It’s time to return to one of my favorite techniques to use with encaustic: “Photos in Wax”. Join me in the studio for this 2-day workshop and learn to combine photographs with encaustic—adding character to your photos and giving them a special one-of-a-kind “hand colored” look. Even if you are new to encaustic, this will be a fun and creative workshop to try.
We will cover different ways to use this technique:
- Encaustic over photos that have been printed and glued to a wood panel
- Photocopies transferred onto wax
- Embedding images within layers
Demonstrations, some group discussion, as well as individual work time and one-on-one time with me will fill out each day. This workshop will be a great opportunity for you to add to your creative toolbox!
As always, the equipment and most materials are provided. You will be asked to email in advance of the workshop one image that will be printed and glued to a panel and ready for you to use on Saturday; then bring with you 3 or 4 additional photos to use in class. More details will be provided in a separate email in advance of the workshop.
