Description
Did you know there are different ways to transfer marks and images onto an encaustic surface? Would you like to learn more about how to do it?
Transfers can apply to mark-making, using some type of transfer paper to recreate lines and marks; to photo images, pulling the image off the paper and putting it onto another surface; it can even be about using stamps to make print images onto a surface.
Join visual artist Candace Law in the studio on Friday, May 23 from 10 am to 4 pm, and spend a fun day getting creative with both photocopies and mark-making tools, while painting with pigmented hot wax. The equipment and many supplies will be provided, but this is also a chance to work with some of your own drawings and photos to incorporate them into a painting.
We’ll discuss toner copies, transferring versus embedding, using transfer papers, and trying out stamps. Just bring a willingness to experiment. There will be some demonstrations as well as plenty of individual work time so you can try more than one technique. No experience is needed for this workshop, and newcomers to encaustic are welcome.
This is a great opportunity to just play and be creative while working with other local artists and exchanging ideas. Further details and suggested photos to bring in will be provided before the session.
