July 10–31, 2026
Opening Reception: Friday, July 10 at 5–8 pm

Maus Haus Gallery presents “Worth the Detour”, an exhibition of work by Matt “EMSKRIPT” Thornton and Steven Quinkert. It opens on July 10 and runs through July 31 at Color | Ink Studio in Hazel Park.

The public is invited to attend the Artist Reception on Friday evening, July 10 from 5-8 pm. It’s free, and visitors will have the opportunity to meet the artists and discuss their work in person. Light refreshments will be available. There is free parking in the lot and on the side streets.

Matt Thornton is a Detroit-based comic book artist and Illustrator. He developed an early love of comics and cartoons from weekend visits with his Aunt, who was an accomplished oil painter. She introduced him to the work of J. Scott Campbell, Todd MacFarlande, and Jim Lee, who would become his earliest influences. After a tour in the U.S. Navy, he attended the College for Creative Studies.

Steven Quinkert has a passion for precision drafting, architectural influence, and storytelling through art. With roots in two iconic cities, he draws inspiration from Detroit’s steel beams and bustling energy, juxtaposed with the raw beauty of Tucson’s cacti-studded horizons and fiery sunsets. His work reflects a seamless fusion of structure and emotion, balancing intricate detail with the vast, untamed spirit of the American Southwest.
